Borderpolars is a study of the experiences of people who have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and with borderline personality disorder. This website tracks my ongoing research project that engages with people who have direct experience with this phenomenon.

What does it mean to be Borderpolar?

‘Borderpolar’ is unofficial psychiatric lingo for people believed to have bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder — two conditions with many similar symptoms that are often diagnosed in the same person, yet are described in the DSM-5 as distinct disorders.

Very little is known about the experiences of people who have been categorized as borderpolar, especially from their point of view. This website tracks a long-term project on the borderpolar phenomena that will culminate in a book.
